Meaning of the abbreviation `ap` as in `ap_start`

In the Vitis Docs - Interface Synthesis many of the interface signals are prefixed with ap.

I am curious — what is the expansion of the abbrevitation ap? I could not find it in the docs.

My guess is that ap stands for two first two letters of the APB, advanced peripheral bus in contrast to axi prefix

It comes from “AutoPilot” and is a legacy from an earlier company that was acquired by Xilinx.
