PYNQ Version: Release 2019_10_03 3f63450
Image: ABR NengoBrainBoard
Board: Pynq-Z1
Using the built-in demo of recording sound from the built-in microphone, the recorded audio file is only static. All interaction was through the notebook interface. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?
Sorry - something similar to but not necessarily exactly Gaussian noise.
It is definitely not a recording of what the ambient sound was at the time of recording.
It’s the PYNQ-Z1 board, with the NengoBrainBoard image on the SD card.
However, it is the default PYNQ-Z1 jupyter notebook that demos the audio system.
Did you try run the notebook with the standard Pynq-Z1 image?
There are a few things to check if you are using a custom board.
There is a difference between the audio circuitry on the PYNQ-Z1 and PYNQ-Z2. This means there is a different PL design for both boards.
The audio setup is done here: (you can compare the differences between the two)
I’m not familiar with the NengoBrainBoard. It may be based on the image for the PYNQ-Z2 image. If you haven’t already, you should check if it uses the base design for the Z1, and if the audio circuitry is enabled. After that, I would suggest you ask your question on their forum about how they have set up their image/PL designs.
