Setting $HOME in ultra96v2

Hello,
I’m new to this area. I’m using ultra96v2 and getting error fatal: $HOME not set while setting a env.
I tired “set $HOME = /home/Xilinx” but not able to resolve.

This is more of a Linux question. You can search in the web how to setup an environment variable on bash.
