ZCU208 and usp_rf_data_converter

Regarding the recent PYNQ ZCU208 build that’s available on github, we have a need to have the usp_rf_data_converter appear in the PetaLinux device tree. Currently, when PYNQ 3.0.1 boots, the usp_rf_data_converter does not appear in the device tree. In order to use the APIs in the libxrfdc.so library directly (e.g. from C), the usp_rf_data_converter device needs to appear in /sys/bus/platform/devices. Can I just edit the .dtsi file in github (/ZCU208/petalinux_bps/meta-user/recipes-bsp/device-tree/files/system-user.dtsi), add the usp_rf_data_converter and rebuild Petalinux? The petalinux-config files aren’t in github (it would be nice if they were), so I can’t start from there. The usp_rf_data_converter entry in the user.dtsi file would look something like this:

I don’t think that updating the dtsi file would work.
You can try to use device tree overlays to update the device tree at runtime.

We do this to deploy PYNQ on the KV260. https://github.com/Xilinx/Kria-PYNQ/tree/main/dts
This thread can also help you trying to define the dtbo for your use case.
